Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri

  1. 22 Days

Grade:

Destination:Nepal

Activities:Trekking and Tour

Everest Base Camp via Jiri is an excursion through the historical trail, following the footprint of the first Everest climbers- Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. It includes longer itinerary than the trek from Lukla. Two different scenarios can be explored during the trek- the sub-tropical forests, waterfalls and green hill gorges on the lower section along with the stunning alpine landscape, glacial ranges and the stunning Himalayan views of the Everest region peaks.

Jiri to Everest base camp trek begins from Jiri after a scenic drive from Kathmandu. But, now a days, it can be started from Bhandara as there has been road extension. The views of the mixed communities are superb and as the trek goes higher and higher, only Sherpa villages start to appear. Passing green hills and forests, it reaches the main trail of Everest at Phakding, above the Dudh Koshi valley. Then the Sagarmatha National park begins, which preserves various flora and fauna. Around Namche Bazaar and Khumjung, you can feel the Sherpa culture and traditions, which is also a bustling town. The straight trail leads you through the glacial moraines with the panoramas of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantega and many more as well as Khumbu glacier. As you hike to the EBC and Kalapatthar, you retrace all the way to Lukla.
